Well, I am ashamed that we did not post this sooner (but thanks to the "Change Time & Date" feature of
Blogger, you can't tell). Thanksgiving 2005 was probably the best Thanksgiving we have ever experienced…and it was the first we ever hosted. We invited my husband’s parents and siblings and his grandmothers and my parents, brother and grandparents. We had 12 people in our little urban apartment. We rented 2 tables and borrowed chairs, a roaster, silverware, dishes and many other items to make our feast a success.
Our menu was
 Peanut Soup
 Turkey
 Ham
 Stuffing
 Mashed potatoes
Mashed sweet potatoes with bourbon and orange juice
Green beans with caramelized red onions and prosciutto
 Corn pudding
 Cranberry Salsa
 Brioche rolls
 Pumpkin roll
 Pumpkin chocolate cheesecake.
Most of our menu elements were purchased at Central Market. Our turkey was a fresh one from the Turkey Lady. Our ham was from S. Clyde Weaver. The bread for the stuffing came from Ric’s Bread. The sweet potatoes were local potatoes from Groff’s. Green beans were from a little stand, the name of which I cannot remember. All of our dairy was from Maplehoff Dairy.
We gave little gift bags that contained Wilbur Buds and pumpkin butter from Market. Our topiaries for the table were little rosemary trees from Space to Grow. Dwight (the owner) picked them out from his grower at our request, and they were absolutely perfect.
Perhaps the most wonderful thing was that our siblings came over on Wednesday and spent the night imbibing and playing darts and hanging out at our place. Of course they all crashed on our floor and were the victims of the Turkey’s noisy 6:30 AM entrance into the roaster. The whole occasion was wonderful. The two families shared a memorable holiday giving thanks for the most important thing on this earth – one another.

We have had some wonderful food recently and, time willing, we may post the recipes soon. In the meantime, a flashback...
Mmmm...Chili Cheese Burritos at the
Bell. Memories of soccer tournaments and Mountain Dew. Thanks for the reminder, bro.
